These terms govern your use of Daily Museum of Art (the "app"). By using the app, you agree to them.
Daily Museum of Art shows one public-domain artwork per day, with translated descriptions, an archive, favorites, and optional Premium features. The catalog is drawn from public-domain sources (Wikidata, Wikipedia, and partner museum collections) and credited where shown.
Don't use the app to violate any law, or attempt to disrupt or reverse-engineer the service.
Artwork descriptions, translations, and facts are sourced and, where AI-assisted, reviewed before publishing, but we don't guarantee they're complete or error-free. If you spot an error, let us know.
Artwork images. We publish an artwork only when the source states that the image file itself is in the public domain or released under CC0 — not merely that the artwork is old. This matters because a photograph of a public-domain artwork can carry its own copyright, particularly for sculpture. Files come from Wikimedia Commons and from open-access museum collections (The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Cleveland Museum of Art), and each artwork names its collection and image licence in the app.
Text from third parties. Where the app shows encyclopedic prose from Wikipedia, that text is licensed CC BY-SA 4.0 and is credited with a link to the source article. Photographs shown under a Creative Commons licence carry their author and licence next to the image.
Our own content. The app's daily stories, translations, name, design, and code are ours. You may read, save, and share individual artworks and their descriptions for personal, non-commercial purposes; please don't republish our written content in bulk or use it to train a model without asking first.
If you own rights in something published in the app and believe it shouldn't be there, email [email protected] with:
We review every notice and, where the claim is substantiated, remove or replace the content promptly — usually within a few days. You do not need to send a formal legal notice for us to act; a plain email is enough. If you think we removed something in error, reply to the same address and we'll reconsider.
We aim to keep the daily artwork and archive available, but the service is provided "as is" — we don't guarantee uninterrupted access, and features may change or be discontinued.
You can stop using the app anytime by deleting it. We may suspend access if these terms are violated.
If we make material changes, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app.
